MEASURE of the EARTH: The study of ancient measure, metrology, reveals that ancient cultures were very much aware of the size and geometry of the earth. In ancient cultures to measure meant to “make real”. Measuring is the activity of the conscious or thinking mind. To measure is to create. The Egyptian god of wisdom was called Thoth which also represented the principle of measure. Measure is the key to the wisdom contained in sacred geometry-like inserting knowns into the variables of an equation. Universe has only one language: form. Scale or measure addresses dimension, -physical plane of consciousness, and gives meaning or wisdom to form..

Measures in ancient times were based on fractional subdivisions of the measure of the earth and thus were “earth commensurate”, that is, harmonic to the earth. In this way man was related to the earth through his architecture. They were called the geophysical foot and the geophysical cubit, the first based on distance in space, the second on distance in time. As such they were considered sacred and inviolate. Thus the foot and cubit used in the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the pre-Inca Kalasasaya Temple at Tiahuanaco, the Greek Parthenon at Athens, Chartres Cathedral in France. All used measures calculated the same way for the latitude were they were built. Each of the ancient units of measure had 2 values: a shorter and longer relating to each other as 175/176, one based on polar radius which was less than equatorial due to flattening poles. The earth spins counterclockwise during the course of the day but the sun appears to orbit clockwise, thus the direction of ritual movement in the temple follows the sun.

Sacred buildings/temples were always dimensioned in whole number multiples of these the standard measures calculated for the latitude where the culture was located. Ancient temples incorporated knowledge of measure and cosmic relationships. Number is the key to extract the knowledge encoded in ancient temple design. Number/Canon: Plato’s “Laws” refers to a numerical code, a sacred canon of proportion (formulas which related key numbers). The Egyptian temple priests, who controlled all education and means of advancement, insisted these should be used by artists and administrators which accounts for the preservation of Egyptian culture for thousands of years.

In many ancient cultures measures were derived from these two including weight and money, Different spatial measures were derived as fractional multiples of these, as in Egypt, for special purposes. Units of measure in the Great Pyramid, for example gave information about the structure and size of the earth, sun and moon. A “talent” of gold of silver was the weight of a cubic volume of water with side equal to one cubit or foot. For example the Egyptian talent weighed 27 kg. In addition to the earth measures were taken from the body of a man such as a foot , hand or finger, usually a royal personage. History is basically the accounting of war. Conquering armies often supplanted their measure system upon the vanquished to cause social disruption and control activity, particularly, commerce. On a global scale we find that there were surprising correspondences and relationships between cultures based on multiples of the √2 and √3, such as relates the Egyptian cubit to the megalithic yard used in stonehenge.

English measure is sacred for all earth, relating earth’s spatial and temporal measures. They are still considered sacred inthe countries where they are use and can be applied anywhere on the globe. English Foot = 1/365.244 of a second of a equatorial circumference. that is one 1/000th of a degree of arc as if measure in terms of the days of the year rather than 360°. Equatorial Diam.=7926.442 mi. x 5280 ft = 41,851,163 ft x π = 131,480,710 ft circumference ÷ 360° = 365.244 days of year. Measure in miles gives whole unit measures of distance in 360 degrees, 60 min., 60 sec., etc. Diameter of Sun 864,000 miles = 10 x seconds of time in an earth day Diameter of Moon = 2,160 miles =1/12 of great precessional year of 25,920 yrs = 360 x 6. Nautical Mile: 1 minute of a degree of arc of the earth circumference at the equator.

It is thought in modern physics today that reality occurs as a result of the collapse of the quantum wave function, which describes all possible probabilities, by the consciousness of the observing (or measuring mind)…what physicst Fred Allen Wolfe called “popping the qwif”. The modern meter was originally defined as one ten millionths of the distance from the equator to the north pole of the earth measured through Paris, France. It was subsequently established more accurately (and consistently) as a multiple of the wave length of orange light emitted by the element Krypton-86, but now is defined as a certain fraction (1/299,792,458th) of the distance light travels in a vaccum in one second of time. So now measure is based on light, space, time. and man. For the Stupa of the Great Awakening: consciousness, the earth and the Buddha.
